L0-Regularization based Material Design for Hexahedral Mesh Models
Published in Computer-Aided Design and Applications, 19(6), 1171–1183, 2022
A new L0-regularized formulation for optimizing the Young’s modulus distribution over a hexahedral mesh, encouraging sparse material distributions while achieving the desired deformation in elastic simulation.

Optimizing heterogeneous elastic material distributions on 3D models
Published in Computer-Aided Design, vol. 175, 103748 (SPM 2024 special issue), 2024
A pipeline for designing heterogeneous elastic material distributions on 3D parts so that they exhibit desired deformation behaviour: interactive deformation design, automatic deformation generation, and a graph-cut + ADMM optimization over a finite set of base materials. Applied to 3D-printed customized insoles.
